Catherine the Great by Robert Massie
This is a huge book, both in physical size, as well as the amount of history it covers. Catherine certainly was an interesting figure, and she had an enormous amount of influence on Russian and world history. Ironically, Catherine the Great was not even Russian, and It was very interesting to learn how an obscure German princess became Empress of all the Russias. While some of the history is a tad dry, there is plenty of intrigue, romance, war and more to more than make up for the tedious bits. Highly recommended for any history buffs!
